Die Hamburger Singer-Songwriterin Kati startete ihr Soloprojekt Kati’s Basement 2009, nachdem sie lange Erfahrung mit klassischem Sopran-Gesang und dem Rocken von verschiedenen Städten mit ihrer Band Klen-Dathu gesammelt hatte.

2009 veröffentlichte sie ihre erste Solo-EP The Basement of the Soul – eine Sammlung intimer, melancholischer Akustiksongs aus den Tiefen – dem Keller – ihrer Seele.

„Ich bin interessiert an der komplexen Tiefe des menschlichen Lebens und daran, diese in zugänglicher Alltags-Lyrik weiterzuerzählen.“

Ihre Folge-EP On second thought zeigt ihre Entwicklung sowohl beim Songwriting als auch musikalisch: Zu ihrer geliebten Akustikgitarre ist eine Telecaster hinzugekommen, die der Musik eine rockige Nuance gibt.

Ihre Texte erforschen die Höhenflüge und Abgründe des Lebens – eine emotionale Achterbahnfahrt, die jedoch niemals den Sinn für Humor vermissen lässt.

Sie hat bereits eine Reihe von Live-Konzerten gespielt, darunter Kunst gegen Bares, Song Slam, Music Club Live, Kamm In, Mathilde Literatur & Café, Kulturladen St. Georg sowie Auftritte als Straßenmusikerin.

In der Zwischenzeit komponiert und erforscht sie weiter:

Singer-songwriter Kati from Hamburg launched her solo project Kati’s Basement in 2009 after collecting experiences in classical soprano singing and rocking towns with her band Klen-Dathu.

She published her first solo recording The Basement of the Soul in 2009 – a collection of intimate, melancholic acoustic songs from the bottom – the basement – of her soul.

“I am interested in the complex depth of the human life and in retelling it in words of an everyday life lyricism.”

states the musician.

Her follow up EP On second thought shows her development both in her song writing and musically: Joined in with her beloved acoustic guitar is a Telecaster electric guitar giving the music a rocky edge.

Her lyrics explore the real highs and very lows of life, an emotional rollercoaster ride that never lacks a sense of humour.

She also played a range of live shows including Kunst gegen Bares, Song Slam, Music Club Live, Kamm In, Mathilde Literatur & Café, Kulturladen St. Georg, and performances as a street musician.

Meanwhile she keeps on composing and exploring:

“As long as life doesn’t stop to tell stories, I won’t either.”
